About the Role:
The Tech Lead plays a critical role in designing and building scalable software systems that solve complex business and technical challenges. In our Terminals business, we are actively modernising our portfolio of business applications that are at the heart of our operations, such as our Terminal Management System, our customer portal, integrations with our OT layer, and our in-field worker connectivity apps. You will be a key player in driving our digital transformation and developing innovative systems that directly enhance our operations and customer experiences.
You will be part of a global business-led product team that operates with a DevOps mentality. It is a collaborative, diverse, fast-paced environment. The role is hands-on and requires autonomy, innovation, and collaboration, with a strong focus on clean, maintainable, and high-performance code.
You are also responsible for the overall architecture and strategy of technical systems, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring solutions are aligned with Stolt-Nielsens business and technical goals.

What Youll Do:
- Lead design, development, and deployment of software that meets business and technical requirements.
- Define and enforce best practices for software development within and across the team, ensuring high-quality delivery.
- Act as the primary liaison between project stakeholders and the engineering team to ensure clarity of objectives.
- Provide mentorship and oversight to junior engineers and encourage growth.
- Facilitate technical discussions and resolve blockers during delivery phases.
- Collaborate with product managers and owners to plan and prioritize technical deliverables.
- Support resource allocation and project timelines while balancing technical scalability goals.
- Leverage domain knowledge to contribute to roadmap design and identify opportunities for innovation.
- Drive innovation by recommending new technologies, frameworks, and tools.
- Take full ownership of deliverables, resolving complex challenges with innovative and reliable solutions.
- Perform additional duties and strategic projects as assigned.
What Youll Bring:
- Bachelors degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in software development and system design.
- Proven experience delivering scalable, reliable, and secure software in cloud or hybrid environments.
- Hands-on experience or strong familiarity with distributed systems, containerization technologies (such as Docker or Kubernetes), and microservices architectures.
- Experience in CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and Agile delivery.
- Strong analytical thinking and collaborative problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
- Technical Architecture & System Design - Must be strong in Translating business needs into technical architecture, designing scalable, modular systems, understanding trade-offs (performance, maintainability, cost, complexity), Guiding teams in adopting architectural patterns (domain-driven design, event-driven, microservices, modular monolith, etc.)
- Mentorship & Technical Coaching - Making the team better by Pair programming and code review coaching, helping juniors and mediors grow, Introducing best practices and coding standards, Creating an environment of learning
- Communication & Stakeholder Management - Breaking down complex technical topics for non-technical people, setting expectations with product owners, designers, and management, translating requirements into actionable work, Keeping the team aligned and informed
- Ownership of Delivery & Quality - Owns the how of delivery: Ensuring code quality, testing discipline, and documentation, prioritizing tech debt and balancing it with features, setting up workflows, branching strategies, and CI/CD (even without cloud focus), Facilitating smooth releases
- Problem Solving & Decision Making - Must make decisions that matter: Evaluating options quickly and clearly, making decisions under ambiguity, knowing when to go deep and when to delegate, Unblocking the team when issues arise
Must Have Skills:
- C# .NET
- Angular, TypeScript
- WinForms (as we migrate to modern platforms)
- GIT and basic understanding of CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code
Good to Have skills:
- Azure (PaaS components)
